Spring

Then came spring,
the melancholy plover,
the cold pond,
the green sprout.

Like the sound of this grass.
Like the roar of the ocean's waves.

Then came spring,
the vanished poet,
the high tree,
the distant fruit.

Who is it that's blowing?
Who sent these waves away?

Then came spring,
the battered bedrock,
the dark soil,
the young foliage.

Who is blowing on this branch
and watching everything vanish?

Here goes spring,
the cheerful plover,
the woken eye,
the dim vision.

Who gave us this swaying crown
that is sleep and wakefulness?
Who tore us up by the root?
Who is trying to plant us here?
